Local Walwa Attractions
Explore the beauty and magnificent views by visiting Bluff Falls, Paddy’s Falls, Pine Mountain or Farran’s Lookout where snow capped mountains are viewable in the distance. The Man from Snowy River Festival is held in Corryong each April which is only a 30 minute drive from the park. The Tumba Festival is located a 40 minute drive away at Tumbarumba.
Cudgewa Bluff Falls
Cudgewa Bluff Falls are located in the Burrowa Pine Mountain National Park. This spectacular set of waterfalls provides visitors with an opportunity to see water cascade off the park plateau, over the Cudgewa Bluff and into a tranquil grotto below. You can reach the Cudgewa Bluff falls via the Buff Falls road, off the Cudgewa North Valley road which links Walwa and the Cudgewa Valley to the National Park.
Burrowa-Pine Mountain National Park
Burrowa-Pine Mountain National Park (18,400 ha) consists of two rugged and contrasting mountains linked by a narrow, vegetated ridge. The park boasts impressive scenery, diverse habitats and significant flora conservation values. Its remote and rugged character is a major attraction and provides excellent and diverse adventures for bushwalkers, campers, climbers, four-wheel drive enthusiasts, birdwatchers and nature lovers.
Paddy's Falls
Paddy’s River Falls has long been a popular spot for locals and is becoming a must-see site for visitors. Lookouts located a short walk from the parking area provide perfect views of the Falls and the landscape downstream. To get a closer look, follow the walkway to the bottom.
Jim Newman's Lookout
Jim Newman's Lookout is a must-see stop along the Great River Road Drive in Tintaldra, Victoria 3708. It is open at all times and welcomes all visitors, including those with access needs.
The lookout offers stunning views of the Murray River valley, Welaregang, and Ournie. Visitors can enjoy shaded picnic tables while taking in the breathtaking scenery. The lookout also features a large-scale metal art installation of a Bogong Moth.
Mt Alfred's Gap Lookout
Located on the Great River Road, Mount Alfred's Gap Lookout is a must-visit destination for those who enjoy breathtaking views.
This lookout provides panoramic views of the river and valleys while showcasing the picturesque farming land of the surrounding area. You can enjoy a picnic while admiring the magnificent scenery or take a photo with the eagle sculpture that adds a unique touch to this destination.
Farran's Lookout
Looking from Farrans Lookout towards Mt Townsend, you can see the settlement of Towong. Just beyond the township on the ridge is Towong Hill Station. This was once the home of Tom and Elyne Mitchell, trailblazers of the Upper Murray and Snowy Mountains.
The celebrated author of the Silver Brumby series, Elyne also wrote other books on the Snowy Mountains.
Clarke Lagoon Wildlife Reserve
Clarke Lagoon Wildlife Reserve runs along a section of the Murray River and provides a number of areas which have been developed to help visitors enjoy river based activities and leisurely camping.
Man From Snowy River Museum
Pioneering families of the 1960s had a vision to preserve the early history of their local area. The museum has a varied and extensive collection, and includes nationally significant items plus research facilities for local and family history.
Walwa Country Pub
Anyone is welcome to come in for a meal or a drink. They have a friendly bar, with a pool table, dart board, and a juke box so you can play your favourite tunes. Enjoy a wine out in the beer garden, sometimes accompanied by live music.
The Tintaldra Hotel
As the mighty Murray River makes its way out of the rugged High Country between the Snowy Mountains and the Victorian Alps at the start of its journey, it meanders through stunning farmland and the first pub it passes is the Tintaldra Hotel. This much-loved country pub was built over 150 years ago and is a popular destination for locals and also visitors travelling from afar.
Jingellic Pub
Jingellic Pub is a fully functional pub including extensive bistro menu, vibrant beer garden under ancient trees. The Jingellic Pub offers an oasis of comfort and nourishment providing a welcome respite from a long day on the roads or sightseeing in the mountains.
Koetong Hotel
The Koetong Hotel is located on the Murray Valley Highway, 33km east of Tallangatta and 48km west of Corryong. Pronounced “Cooee-tong”, meaning frost, this classic country pub is the perfect spot to break up a drive when travelling between the towns.
Man From Snowy River Festival

Set along the shady banks of the Tumbarumba Creekscape, at Tumbafest you’ll find music from renowned performers filling the air, intermingled with children’s squeals of delight and adults’ relaxed laughter. The festival showcases beautiful, local cool-climate wines and produce, tantalising cuisine and unique handicrafts.
Tumbarumba Rodeo
The Tumbarumba Rodeo is the oldest Rodeo in New South Wales. Held at the Tumbarumba Showgrounds, the event will be another action packed show featuring both novice and professional events. The event also features food trucks, kids activities, bar & live music!
